Kelli’s Quill - Big End-of-Year Issue

Hi everyone!

I hope 2014 was a good year for everyone and you’re all enjoying the holiday season. This month in the Quill, I’m giving readers year-end recap and links to great stuff! Let’s get started…

Dangerous Indenture
Eager to escape her past in Ireland, Shauna Farrow signs on to become an indentured servant to Joshua Stewart, a wealthy man in Pennsylvania Colony. But a life of servitude quickly turns to drudgery, and her hopes for starting over and creating a better life for herself are waning—until she meets her master’s roguish son, Ashton.

Shauna fights her growing attraction to Ashton, torn between propriety and acting on her emotions. But amidst their flirting, something dark stirs. Shauna soon discovers why no other servants will work for the strange Stewart family.

Dangerous Indenture is available in ebook format from:

Her seasonal story, “Home for Halloween” appears in the Moon Shadows horror anthology. This tale of two brothers reunited for Halloween showcases the best elements of this special holiday. Order your copy here:

Peering into 2015
A lot of people have asked me what I’m working on and want to know what they can expect in 2015. Although I have nothing concrete finished, I am busy with several projects.

Currently, I’m writing a book on… how to write. (Don’t worry, it won’t be a boring English-class-type book.) It will include a lighthearted approach to the basics of storytelling, creating characters, and plotting, plus writing tips, and fun exercises.

After that, I’ll be revising a full-length historical romance (an untitled Western set in Nebraska). And I have several ideas for more contemporary, historical, and gay romances.

I’m also writing a few horror short stories– so I think I have my work cut out for me in 2015!

Kelli's Holiday Message – Help Homeless Pets

The holiday season is upon us once again, and everyone is always encouraged to donate to needy causes and give to those who are less fortunate – and sometimes the ones who are most in need have four feet and a tail!

As you’re rushing around looking for the best deals on the “perfect gift” this year, consider purchasing something for a cat or a dog awaiting adoption at a local animal shelter or rescue organization. Try this: every time you buy something in a store (or online) put a donation in your cart. It could be anything: canned cat food, dog treats, cat litter, bags of dry food, toys, food and water bowls, or a gift card. (And if you’re not a hardcore shopper, why not send them a check?)

Every donation to a shelter or a rescue organization helps ease their financial burden and improves the lives of the animals in their care.

Of course, if you’re really looking for the “purrfect” gift – why not adopt a pet? Thousands of loving cats and dogs will spend the holidays in shelters, hoping for forever homes. Many of these animals were once someone’s pet and they’ve never forgotten what it was like to live a happy life with people who loved them.

Every cat or dog you adopt creates an opening for another animal at the shelter. Adult dogs and cats are often overlooked in favor of puppies and kittens, and are not always a first choice. (Sadly, too many of these “older” pets never get a second chance.) This is unfortunate because they have a lot of love to give and deserve to live out the rest of their days knowing that somebody cared about them. (I adopted two adult cats nobody wanted, and let me tell you, they are so happy to have a place to call home.)

So this year, give some thought to adopting a cat or dog – it’ll be the best gift ever to the animal you welcome into your life.

Visit https://www.petfinder.com to search for pets awaiting adoption in your local area. You can also find out how to sponsor a pet and learn other ways you can help homeless animals.

And who are these adorable cats at the top of this blog? They’re just a dozen of the more than 300,000 cats looking for loving homes. Read about them here:
