Kelli’s Quill - January 2016 Issue

Hi everyone,

Happy New Year! It’s hard to believe that we’re starting another new year (again!) This month, I’m flashing back to all the news and links from 2015 - plus sharing some game-changing news for 2016. Now’s your chance to get caught up in case you missed anything. Let’s get started!

You Can Write—Really!
In February I released You Can Write—Really! A Beginner’s Guide to Writing Fiction. This fun and easy writing guide is loaded with practical instruction on how to create a story, step-by-step: from getting a great idea to meeting your characters, developing a plot, and on to writing, revising, and submitting your work. Each chapter is filled with helpful tips all writers can use, plus fun writing exercises to get you motivated.

You Can Write received several 5 star reviews. Here’s a snippet from the Literary Nymphs review:

You Can Write—Really! A Beginner’s Guide to Writing Fiction has a lot of very practical advice that is easy to understand and follow. The author did a good job breaking up the various components of writing a book or short story, making you think you are in a creative writing class. Each section of the book was followed by exercises that used the principles she was trying to convey. I loved this book and the way it is so easy to understand and follow. Whether you are someone just starting or someone with some publications, this is a good book for the bookshelf.

Romance Interviews and Guest Blogs:

Early in 2015, I shared my thoughts on writing historical romances: http://dbaileycoach.com/brightbooks/2015/01/historical-romances-far-from-old-fashioned/

Are You Ready to Be Scared?
In autumn, I released two horror stories as Amazon ebooks. Kropsy's Curse is a1500-word cautionary tale about playing with a Ouija board in a graveyard. It’s only $.99 on Kindle: http://www.amazon.com/Kropsys-Curse-Kelli-Wilkins-ebook/dp/B014IAH848/ref=sr_1_1?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1440681198&sr=1-1

If you like to be scared, spend a night in the land of the dead with my horror novella,
Dead Til Dawn. This
Civil War themed ghost story is only $1.99 on Kindle: http://www.amazon.com/Dead-Til-Dawn-Kelli-Wilkins-ebook/dp/B015LHI08A/ref=sr_1_1?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1442842567&sr=1-1&keywords=dead+til+dawn
and it's now available on B&N, itunes, and other platforms!!

Both stories have received excellent reviews:

Fallen Over Book Reviews gave Kropsy’s Curse 5 Goblets!
“Wow short and perfect. The characters are well developed in such a few pages that the author did a great job with it. The description of the cemetery and the fear you could get from Kyle was spot on. I know not to mess with a Ouija board but do you?”

Book-o-Craze gave Kropsy’s Curse 4 stars! Read the review here:

Fallen Over Book Reviews gave Dead Til Dawn 5 Goblets!
“This was a good ghost story. Gave me the chills a bit and makes me not want to visit anywhere where a battle has taken place. It does make you wonder if there are ghosts out there from battles long ago who cannot move and still live the battle every day. The author did a great job with descriptions and the characters. I hope the author keeps up with the ghost stories because she does a great job with them.”

A Blast from the Past!
Did you know that my Medallion Press historical romance, The Viking's Witch, was published in the Czech Republic in 2015? Here’s the link: http://www.alpress.cz/hledani/?q=Wilkins

I hope you enjoyed this 2015 flashback! So, what’s ahead in 2016?

In spring 2016 I’m planning a re-release of my popular Amber Quill Press trilogies. Why a re-release? Well, unfortunately, Amber Quill will cease publishing ebooks as of March 31, 2016. I’ve had a fantastic run with them over the last 10 years, and I’ve created some unique characters and great books. And don’t worry, I’m not parting with my fictional children. All of my Amber Quill ebooks will be republished on Amazon and other platforms in 2016 and 2017. Stay tuned to my website, blog, social media and this newsletter for more information.

The first three books I’m republishing is the Royal Desires trilogy. This series of historical/fantasy romances is comprised of A Most Unusual Princess, Dalton’s Temptation, and The Pauper Prince. The books will be re-edited, re-titled, and released on Amazon Kindle with hot new covers. You’ll still be able to purchase ALL of my Amber Quill titles on Amazon until March 31, 2016. Visit my author page to see the full title list: www.amazon.com/author/kelliwilkins

I’ve been hard at work on my third Medallion Press historical romance, Lies, Love, and Redemption. It’s set for a September 2016 release, and I’ll be sharing more details as they become available.

I like hearing from readers and other writers, so contact me with questions or comments on my site or via social media.

Happy Reading & let’s make the most of 2016!

Kelli
