Welcome to Part 2 of Erotic Fantasy Romance Month. This week, I’m sharing an inside look at Dalton’sTemptation. This book is the second story in the trilogy that began with A Most Unusual Princess and ends with The Pauper Prince.
Together, they make up a fun series, but each story stands alone as a separate read. When I started writing the books I had no idea I was writing what would become a trilogy, so each book is a complete adventure.
In Dalton’s Temptation, Prince Dalton has been sent to an emperor’s pleasure palace to conduct business. Naturally, this doesn’t sit well with headstrong Princess Elara, and she decides to sneak along on the trip – even though it’s expressly forbidden. Here’s the plot summary:
After only four months of marriage to Princess Elara, Prince Dalton is sent to Emperor Salizar’s “pleasure palace” on business. Not wanting to be left behind, Elara risks her safety and sneaks along on the trip. Aided by her brother, Prince Allan, she disguises herself as one of Salizar’s sultry kharim women and decides to test Dalton’s loyalty.
Masquerading as Oonish, Elara goes out of her way to tempt Dalton at every turn. Despite Dalton’s resolve to resist the indulgent girls, he finds himself falling under the spell of the mysterious Oonish. After nearly giving in to temptation, Dalton discovers Elara’s trickery and turns the tables on her, making her into his submissive playmate.
This book introduces us to Elara’s wisecracking (and ever-horny) brother, Prince Allan, who later goes on to have his own book The Pauper Prince. We also get to know more about Dalton and Elara’s newlywed relationship and watch how they interact and respond to challenges in their lives. And naturally, Elara gets in over her head and lands in big trouble.
When I wrote Dalton’s Temptation, I deliberately focused on the themes of fidelity, trust, and sensuality. Elara wants to test Dalton’s loyalty, so she masquerades as a sultry girl in a pleasure palace and tries to seduce him. Poor Dalton tries to be good and resist Oonish’s charms, but they’re stuck in close quarters – with everyone having sex all around them. I can’t give away too many secrets about what happens along the way, but I enjoyed taking Elara out of her element and giving her new challenges and sexual experiences. We also got to see a different side to Dalton’s character and learned about his weaknesses and desires.
I enjoyed writing this historical/fantasy novel. It has a little bit of everything: humor, sizzling love scenes, an element of danger, adventure, and a drop of sadness. Readers and reviewers also loved the book (and the trilogy overall). As soon as I finished writing Dalton’s Temptation, I knew that Prince Allan needed to have his story told, so I began writing The Pauper Prince. But more on that next week…
Here’s what reviewers had to say…
“5 Roses! I thought the first book [A Most Unusual Princess] was hot, but this one is worth reading. Kelli A. Wilkins did a superb job in this one and introduces us to a new side of Dalton. I loved this story and it’s hard for me to give a Historical Erotica a 5 for the first part and a sequel but Kelli Wilkins did a beautiful job in showing us a princess with stubborn heart to love and a man who completes her in every way.” - Lena, Reviewer, Mybookcravings.com
"A 5! Where do I start about DALTON’S TEMPTATION? For starters, this is part two of a series. Yet, it stands alone. At least that was what Ms. Wilkins told me, and she was right. I didn’t feel as though I missed something from book one or that I felt left out of a secret joke. Her writing style and characters makes me want to read book one (A MOST UNUSUAL PRINCESS). I can’t wait to get a copy of the first book to find out how it all began. Ms Wilkins has wet my appetite for more." - Miranda, Reviewer, BDSM Reviews
“4 Coffee Cups! Ms. Wilkins has created a page turning story that you cannot help but finish in one sitting. Dalton and Elara are unforgettable characters. The sex scenes are hot, hot, hot! The twists and turns make it impossible to figure out what happens next. DALTON’S TEMPTATION is definitely on this reader’s keeper shelf!”- Jenifer, Reviewer, Coffee Time Romance
“DALTON’S TEMPTATION is truly exceptional and first rate! Kelli A. Wilkins is amazing and brilliant with her writing talents. She captures you from the first moment Dalton speaks. I totally enjoyed myself reading this book. I for one would love to see another book on this family giving Allan his own story. It would be interesting to see who can tame his wildness.” Sensual Reads.net
