A Month of Romances – Part 1 – A Most Unusual Princess

Happy February Everyone!

People always ask me, “Out of all the romances you’ve written, which one is your favorite?”

That’s a hard question to answer because I invented all the characters and their adventures, so naturally I love them all. (It’s been said that whatever book you’re working on now is your favorite – which is also true!)

So, to answer the question, I’ve decided to share my personal favorites by genre. First up, fantasy romance!

Of all my fantasy romances (A Most Unusual Princess, Dalton’s Temptation, The Pauper Prince, A Midsummer Night’s Delights, Naughty Nobles, and A Midwinter Night’s Delights) my favorite is A Most Unusual Princess. Why? For several reasons.

A Most Unusual Princess was my first erotic romance. I wrote it specifically for the Amber Quill Press “Heat Wave” contest and it won! Another reason I put this book on the top of my list is because the characters and story are so damned amusing. In most fantasy stories, princesses are demure, polite, restrained, and the model of perfection. Elara is the complete opposite: feisty, headstrong, rude, misbehaved, and… well, the list goes on and on…

A Most Unusual Princess spawned two sequels, Dalton’s Temptation and The Pauper Prince. Together they make up the “Royal Desires” trilogy and are a hoot to read back to back. The trilogy covers their loves and lives with lots of adventure, romance, and danger. Although the other two novels are sequels, each book stands alone as a separate read.

Here’s a blurb about A Most Unusual Princess:

Princess Elara needs to find a royal husband, but claims that no man can satisfy her. Dalton, Elara’s special guard, finds her unusual behaviors charming---and enthralling. Dalton’s aloof manner intrigues Elara, and despite their differences, they share tender moments and intimate nighttime passions. Elara is heartbroken when her father chooses a “proper” husband for her---until she meets the mystery man.

and some excellent reviews from romance readers.

“5 Coffee Cups! Bravo to Ms. Wilkins for writing a twist in the book that makes the reader want to continue reading until the end. The way Ms. Wilkins allowed the two lovers to explore their bodies for the first time was so hot, I doubt a fire extinguisher would have been able to extinguish their passion for each other. The combustion sizzles between the pages as Elara desires to be closer to Dalton. I loved the banter between the two.” — Cherokee, Reviewer, Coffee Time Romance

“4 Beacon Review! A Most Unusual Princess by Kelli A. Wilkins is a lighthearted and often funny story. Elara and Dalton’s growing relationship is very entertaining, as they are two very appealing main characters.” — Moe811, Reviewer, Lighthouse Literary Reviews

“8.9 rating! A Highly Recommended Book! A Most Unusual Princess by Kelli A. Wilkins is a new erotic twist on an old beloved tale. The interaction and friendly bickering between Dalton and Elara made me laugh out loud at the characters. I truly enjoyed this romantic tale and would highly recommend this book.” - Aline de Chevigny,

“4 Stars, Excellent! Ms. Wilkins has written a wonderful Princess fairytale, with humor, stimulating encounters, and sweet romance. The characters are well developed considering the short length. The storyline is interesting and the sexual situations flow smoothly with the story.” - Polly,

A Most Unusual Princess is an amusing book that will seize your attention from the first word. Elara is a woman who wants to get married on her own terms, not those set by her father. The growing attraction and love between Elara and Dalton carry this sweet story. Ms. Wilkins has created appealing characters that will touch your heart.” - Tewanda, Fallen Angel Reviews

“Enchanting! A Most Unusual Princess is a quick afternoon retreat. When you’re just a little bit stressed and need some relief this is where to get it. Kelli Wilkins puts an erotic little twist to “once upon a time.” So put up your feet and relax while you slip into this enchanting story.” - Jan Douglas, Writers

A Most Unusual Princess is a quick trip into a sensuous fantasy world. I loved the characters—the abrasiveness and quick wit of both was hilarious, and the sexual tension between Dalton and Elara is oh-so-yummy.” — Cassidy, Reviewer,

I hope you’ll check out the book and add it to your library of favorites!

Next week, I’ll share a bit about my favorite historical romance.

Happy Reading!
